The Four Color Demons were introduced as a mashup team for the 2018 WGSHT tournament, which was repeated again in 2019.
The Four Color Demons logo was designed by The Kucharek Brothers. The Four Color Demons movement was conceived on the Tell ‘Em Steve-Dave (TESD) podcast, with hosts Bryan Johnson and Brian “Q” Quinn both being avid motorcycle owners and enthusiasts, and the idea was to create an MC for comic book fans. Their sales pitch is incredibly simple and inclusive: “The Four Color Demons welcome everybody into our ranks. You don’t even need to own a motorcycle, that’s how welcome everybody is. Everyone on the team wore the name “FRANK” instead of their surname. This was done as a further reference to the TESD podcast, where there have been multiple guests with the name “Frank”, on multiple episodes of the podcast, so the hosts started numbering them. VASHL’s own Frank Ciampi is known on the podcast as Frank #3. The Four Color Demons ultimately disbanded following the COVID-19 pandemic, as the league’s hiatus disrupted their momentum. While they are no longer active in VASHL, their spirit, humor, and dedication to fandom live on, remembered as one of the most uniquely themed and entertaining teams in league history. Contents |

Team History
Introduced as a mashup team for the 2018 Walter Gretzky Street Hockey Tournament (WGSHT), the Four Color Demons returned in 2019, embracing their bold, inclusive spirit both on and off the rink. The franchise was inspired by the Four Color Demons movement, created on the Tell ‘Em Steve-Dave (TESD) podcast, hosted by Bryan Johnson and Brian “Q” Quinn—both avid motorcycle enthusiasts and comic book fans.
The team was built on the same welcoming philosophy as the Four Color Demons motorcycle club, which champions the idea that comic book fans don’t need a motorcycle to belong:
“The Four Color Demons welcome everybody into our ranks. You don’t even need to own a motorcycle, that’s how welcome everybody is.
Have a skateboard? You’re in!
Ridden on a train once? You’re in!
Had your fiancé stolen from you by a dude on a scooter? You’re in!
Hell, if you’ve only seen a picture of a motorcycle, that’s good enough for us.
We’re all united by our love of comic books.”
Their logo, designed by The Kucharek Brothers, captured the essence of this movement, giving the team a distinct, rebellious aesthetic in VASHL competition.
Every player on the team wore the name “FRANK” instead of their surname—a playful nod to TESD, where multiple guests named Frank have appeared in various episodes, leading the hosts to start numbering them. VASHL’s own Frank Ciampi is known on the podcast as Frank #3, making this naming tradition a perfect fit for the team.
Like many VASHL franchises, the Four Color Demons were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, ultimately disbanding after the league hiatus. Though they are no longer active, their spirit, humor, and deep-rooted connection to fandom remain an unforgettable part of VASHL history.
