The Lady Ming Trophy

The Lady Ming Trophy is an esteemed annual award presented at the Walter Gretzky Street Hockey Tournament (WGSHT), celebrating the VASHL team that best embodies sportsmanship and camaraderie while also delivering exceptional jersey design.

At the conclusion of each WGSHT tournament, voting takes place, with every active team receiving one vote to help determine the trophy’s recipient. This peer-driven selection process ensures that the award honors a team recognized by fellow competitors for its spirit, respect, and visual identity.

Named in honor of Ming Chen, the trophy acknowledges his impact on View Askew Productions and VASHL culture, recognizing him as a beloved figure within the community. His enduring connection to the league and its traditions makes the Lady Ming Trophy a fitting tribute to the values of respect, sportsmanship, and creative expression that define VASHL.

The SModawa 37s claimed the honor in 2024, adding their name to a storied list that includes the Golgothans (2023, 2017), LA Mings (2022), Clerks (2019), Four Color Demons (2018), View Askew Girls (2016), and Funployees (2015).
