Moose Jaws

The Moose Jaws were an international street hockey team. They were officially introduced as an expansion team for the 2017 WGSHT tournament.

The team is based on Kevin Smith’s announced film of the same name, described as basically “Jaws with a Moose”. It is also a play on the Canadian city of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. In June 2015, Harley Morenstein of Epic Meal Time confirmed he will be the lead in the film. In September 2015, Kevin Smith mentioned that his character Silent Bob will be eaten by the killer moose. In January 2016, Smith confirmed that Jay and Silent Bob will appear in Moose Jaws. In February 2016, Smith revealed that filming on Moose Jaws would start in July 2016 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Although on Hollywood Babble-On, Smith revealed filming was slated to begin in May 2016. As of May 2019, filming on the film has not yet begun.

They are also one of the six VASHL franchises that have participated in the Walter Gretzky Street Hockey Tournament, as well as the September Classic.

Team History

The Moose Jaws were first introduced as one of the theme teams for the 2016 Mainway Mini-Tourney. They later appeared at the inaugural September Classic of 2016 and were officially added as an expansion team for the 2017 WGSHT.
