The Kill Bill Kid Award is presented annually at the Walter Gretzky Street Hockey Tournament to the player who suffers the most significant injury during the event. Whether it’s an unfortunate collision, an unlucky fall, or just sheer bad luck, this dubious distinction recognizes those who leave the tournament with bruises, battle scars, and a story to tell.
Named in reference to Kevin Smith’s film Tusk, the award nods to the infamous “Kill Bill Kid”, an internet celebrity within the movie who became known for accidentally severing his own leg with a katana sword. While no VASHL player has lost a limb (yet), the tournament has produced its fair share of painful moments, making this award a gruesome but legendary staple of VASHL tradition.
